State Highway 50 Trail
Along SH50 from Tikokino to the north, Ongaonga and it's historic buildings and museum, to the junction with SH2, from the Ruahine Ranges to the Forest Park. It includes many sites from the early days of bush clearance into farmland and many notable and well-preserved original buildings. The trail has two scenic reserves and many spectacular views.
State Highway 2 Trail
Along SH2 from Te Aute past the Settlers Museum in Waipawa, through Waipukurau and the restored Railway Station and onto the loop in Takapau. This trail has a theme of exploring the heritage of railway construction and sites date from as early as the 1870’s.
Pavement Walks
Two separate walks through the towns of Waipukurau and Waipawa, designed to be easily walked or explored on bike. Sites include some of the original buildings established in the towns and brochures explain the early history of the towns.
Coastal Trail
Start from either Waipawa or Waipukurau and explore the eastern districts of Porangahau and coastal settlements. There are two scenic Bush Reserves and the Te Angiangi Marine Reserve, as well as dramatic coastline, exciting beaches and areas steeped in Maori history.
