Kairakau Beach
Ideal for swimming, fishing and surfing. Kairakau also has a popular camping ground and area at the end of the beach road for fully self contained motorhomes only.
Head east from Waipawa along Tamumu Road. This road changes to Pourerere Road after about 2kms. Turn left onto River Road, then right onto Elsthorpe Road. At Elsthorpe village is a fork; the right fork will take you to Kairakau Beach - follow the signs from there.
Travel time: 30 minutes from Waipawa

Mangakuri Beach
Ideal for swimming, fishing and snorkelling. Mangakuri has a combination of magnificent sandy beach and interesting rocky shore. Camping is prohibited.
The same directions as for Kairakau Beach, but turn right onto Mangakuri Road, just before Kairakau.
Travel time: 40 minutes from Waipawa

Pourerere Beach
Ideal for fishing, swimming and surfing. Pourerere Beach has a camping ground. For alternate camping areas at Pourerere please click here. camping instructions.   Access application forms here. Boats can be launched from the beach.
Travel east from Waipawa on Tamumu Road. This road changes to Pourerere Road after about 2kms - follow the signs from there.
Travel time: 25 minutes from Waipawa

Aramoana Beach
Sandy beach, swimming and fishing. Aramoana has beach access and a reserve with public amenities. Camping is prohibited.
Follow the same directions as for Pourerere Beach, but turn right onto Gibraltar Road, just before Pourerere.
Travel time: 35 minutes from Waipawa

Blackhead Beach
Ideal for fishing, swimming and camping. Hosts Te Angiangi Marine Reserve.
Travel east from Waipawa on Tamumu Road. About 2kms along this road, the name will change to Pourerere Road. Follow this until you come to Long Range Road on your right and follow the signs, or head southeast from Waipukurau on Tavistock Road, onto Farm Road, and follow the signs.
Travel time: 45 minutes from Waipawa

Porangahau Beach - Te Paerahi Beach
Ideal for fishing and surfing. There is a camping ground as well as freedom camping; these areas are sign-posted. Travel south from Waipukurau along Porangahau Road and follow the signs.
